The winery at Via Colonara 1, in San Michele
The building located on Via Colonara 1 in Contrada San Michele appears for the first time in the land registry of July 1927 which reported a change in the land use from “arable land” to “rural building.” Considering that the lustrations took place as the name itself states every 5 years, it is assumed then that the building was built between 1922 and 1927 by Pietro Paolo Coppari, son of the late Antonio, then landowner.
Coppari retained ownership of the land and building, used as a cellar, until 1931, the year in which his business declared bankruptcy on June 9th, 1931 by the Royal Court of Ancona.
From this moment the proprietorship of Coppari passed under bankruptcy and the engineer Domenico Dottori began to show interest in purchasing the land and building at Via Colonara 1.
The documents show a deed of purchase dated May 13, 1934 for 54,000 lire by Domenico Dottori, through the power of attorney of Augusto Fazi, being on business in Sardinia. However, it seems that the actual award of the fund and the building to Dottori takes place only on February 18, 1935 after public auction in which five people participated, including his attorney Fazi, for a final sum of 60,000 lire.
From this date, therefore, the building used as wine cellar is owned by the Dottori family.
